Today is Jerusalem Day
in Israel, celebrating the unification of Jerusalem and the
establishment of Israeli control over the Old City after the June 1967
Six-Day War.
We have not one, but two speakers. Both are perfectly timed for recent events. First Peg Brady
will give a presentation on the Magna Carta on its upcoming 800th
anniversary. The Magna Carta is largely known as the original secular
document where rulers are said to be held to the same laws as the
subjects, but it is more than that and Peg will give us a rundown of
this amazing document. Additionally, she the unofficial scribe for the
Western Conservative Summit and can talk a little about that as well.
Second, Randy Corporon
is a Colorado native who has gone from High School drop out, to
business owner, to Radio talk show host, to Attorney and to Tea Party
leadership (and he also happens to be a great speaker). He holds
Republican elected officials feet to the fire and has his finger on the
pulse of Colorado politics. Thank you Geri for getting both of these
speakers lined up.
We
are once again promotional partners for the Centennial Institute's
Western Conservative Summit on the weekend of June 26 through 28 (http://www.ccu.edu/centennial/western-conservative-summit/).
This year we have not only purchased booth space, but have been working
with the local Chabad to accommodate Jewish participants beyond having
kosher meals to having an organized Friday evening candle lighting,
minion and Kiddush as well as an early Shabbat service and Kiddush. For
security and planning reasons, they can not have people at the
conference center that are not attending the conference, however, anyone
in the Jewish community who wants to come to the Summit and the Shabbat
can get a Silver Pass (basic ticket into the Summit) for 50% off! Go to
the Summit Registration website and select the Silver Pass 50% discount
- it's typically just for veterans, educators, and clergy, but because
many speakers would be missed by those attending services, they are
making this discount available (use promo code "mishpocheh").
For attendees, there is a special hotel rate at the Hyatt Regency directly across from the Colorado Convention Center (https://aws.passkey.com/event/11270643/owner/21829/home) and an assortment of event passes are available here: http://www.yesevents.com/wcs2015.
We
have 2 discount passes available in addition to 4 credentials to the
exhibitor area and need volunteers. Please let me know by replying to
this email if you can help out during the weekend.
Please join us for the May 20 meeting and bring a friend as well as your questions and comments.
For
June, board member Geri Zahner has also lined up William Perry Pendley,
Esq of Mountain States Legal Foundation (an often featured organization
of GOPAC).
