J-GOP Meeting Wed, July 15 - Speakers: The Americhicks from KLZ

Hi Friends,

You may have heard about the flap at KLZ with some of the hosts, well that does not mean there are not others. Two, in particular, Molly Voght and Kim Monson, are known as The Americhicks. They are a dynamic duo and have plenty to say about how things are and how they should be.

After serving 16 years as a consultant to financial advisors, small business owners and their employee's, Molly Vogt began taking her advice directly to the communities, where she feels she will be most effective helping improve the quality of life for all Americans.

Kim Monson believes passionately in the American Dream because she's lived it. She arrived in Colorado, in an old Buick, with about a hundred bucks in her pocket and the belief, that in America, anything is possible. And it is. She started work at a bank, then as a stock trading assistant. She studied at nights and on week-ends for her investment broker's license. Hired at Boettcher & Company, an old respected investment

We will also have a group discussion of the issues of the day at the beginning of every meeting! This is your J-GOP and your opportunity to express your opinion on the myriad of issues facing our country and Israel in these challenging times!

Bring an issue or chime in as the moderator introduces a few of the topics that have dominated the news in the past month!  Bring a friend to join in the discussion!

The Jewish Republicans of Colorado is your place to go when your heart and mind is troubled by current events.  Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

If you missed the Western Conservative Summit, you missed a lot. There was even a flash mob! You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB67D1EoS9o

Please join us for the July 15 meeting and bring a friend as well as your questions and comments.

Sincerely,
Dan Kopelman

J-GOP Meeting Wed, June 17 - Speaker: William Perry Pendley

Hi Friends,

There are, unfortunately, few legal firms willing to defend individuals against the unlimited resources of Local, State and Federal government. Mountain States Legal Foundation is one of those few firms, we are honored to have the president of that organization, William Perry Pendley as our speaker this month. Mr. Pendley has argued cases before the Supreme Court of the United States as well as various federal courts of appeals; he won what Time called a "legal earthquake" when the Supreme Court ruled in his favor in the historic Adarand (equal protection) case. His monthly column, Summary Judgment, appears throughout the country; he is the author of four books: It Takes A Hero (1994); War on the West (1995); Warriors for the West (2006); and Sagebrush Rebel (2013).

You don't want to miss this great speaker who was featured in GOPAC issue training courses and who is truly devoted to protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States.

BACK BY (WE HOPE!) POPULAR DEMAND:

We will have a group discussion of the issues of the day at the beginning of every meeting! This is your J-GOP and your opportunity to express your opinion on the myriad of issues facing our country and Israel in these challenging times!

Bring an issue or chime in as the moderator introduces a few of the topics that have dominated the news in the past month!  Bring a friend to join in the discussion!

We are once again promotional partners for the Centennial Institute's Western Conservative Summit on the weekend of June 26 through 28 (http://www.ccu.edu/centennial/western-conservative-summit/). This year we have not only purchased booth space, but have been working with the local Chabad to accommodate Jewish participants beyond having kosher meals to having an organized Friday evening candle lighting, minion and Kiddush as well as an early Shabbat service and Kiddush. For security and planning reasons, they can not have people at the conference center that are not attending the conference, however, anyone in the Jewish community who wants to come to the Summit and the Shabbat can get a Silver Pass (basic ticket into the Summit) for 50% off! Go to the Summit Registration website and select the Silver Pass 50% discount - it's typically just for veterans, educators, and clergy, but because many speakers would be missed by those attending services, they are making this discount available (use promo code "Mishpocheh").

For attendees, there is a special hotel rate at the Hyatt Regency directly across from the Colorado Convention Center (https://aws.passkey.com/event/11270643/owner/21829/home) and an assortment of event passes are available here: http://www.yesevents.com/wcs2015.

We have 4 credentials to the exhibitor area and need volunteers. Please let me know by replying to this email if you can help out during the weekend.

Please join us for the June 17 meeting and bring a friend as well as your questions and comments.

If you have not already done so, remember dues are due. If you have not paid the $36, please visit www.j-gop.com and do so at your soonest convenience. Anyone wishing to be on the board, or who would like to take on the role of outreach and/or programming should reply to this email.

The President’s Lowest Ebb - The New York Sun

The President’s Lowest Ebb

The Supreme Court ruling in the so-called Jerusalem passport case certainly hands a disappointing bar mitzvah gift to Menachem Binyamin Zivotofsky. He is the American who was born at Jerusalem in 2002 and sought American papers listing his birthplace as Israel. He acted under a law passed almost unanimously by Congress requiring that such papers be granted. It took two trips to the Supreme Court for the judicial branch to reach a conclusion, and the youngster lost.
To the young man — and his heroic parents — all Americans who love Israel owe a debt of thanks. We were rooting for them all the way. But it may yet be that in the long run the big winner in the case will be the Jewish state. For one result of Zivotofsky v. Kerry, as the case came to be called, will be that those Americans born in Jerusalem who want documents listing their birthplace as Israel will have to become Israelis. That is, in a way, a restatement of the raison d’etre of Zionism.

J-GOP Meeting Wed, May 20 - Speakers Peg Brady and Randy Corporon

Today is Jerusalem Day in Israel, celebrating the unification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City after the June 1967 Six-Day War.

We have not one, but two speakers. Both are perfectly timed for recent events. First Peg Brady will give a presentation on the Magna Carta on its upcoming 800th anniversary. The Magna Carta is largely known as the original secular document where rulers are said to be held to the same laws as the subjects, but it is more than that and Peg will give us a rundown of this amazing document. Additionally, she the unofficial scribe for the Western Conservative Summit and can talk a little about that as well.

Second, Randy Corporon is a Colorado native who has gone from High School drop out, to business owner, to Radio talk show host, to Attorney and to Tea Party leadership (and he also happens to be a great speaker). He holds Republican elected officials feet to the fire and has his finger on the pulse of Colorado politics. Thank you Geri for getting both of these speakers lined up.

We have 2 discount passes available in addition to 4 credentials to the exhibitor area and need volunteers. Please let me know by replying to this email if you can help out during the weekend.

Please join us for the May 20 meeting and bring a friend as well as your questions and comments.

For June, board member Geri Zahner has also lined up William Perry Pendley, Esq of Mountain States Legal Foundation (an often featured organization of GOPAC).

If you have not already done so, remember dues are due. If you have not paid the $36, please visit www.j-gop.com and do so at your soonest convenience. Anyone wishing to be on the board, or who would like to take on the role of outreach and/or programming should reply to this email.

J-GOP Meeting Wed, April 15 - GOP Chairman Steve House

Chag Sameach! We hope you had a meaningful Seder this Passover season.

We have the new Colorado Republican Party Chairman, Steve House, as a speaker this month. He replaced Ryan Call in an election with no equal in recent history for the State GOP. Colorado has seen much change in its political leanings over the last few decades between campaign finance reforms, voter reforms and competing tax initiatives, our state's political leaning can only be described as chaos.

Many hope a new direction with less top down and more local initiative will bring things back in balance. We will be hearing from the new chairman about what is being done and how we can make a difference. Bring your questions and concerns as well as your ideas!

Please join us for the April 15 meeting and bring a friend as well as your questions and comments.

The Western Conservative Summit 2015, "Your Story: Freedom Alive," is coming up on June 26-28 at the Colorado Convention Center. We have a booth location that is prominently located in the main area and need volunteers to staff it (it is easy to do and gets you right in the middle of the action). Because we are a summit partner once again we will have some discounts available and will let you know what they are soon. Simply reply to this email if you are interested. (BTW - We are putting together something special for the Jewish attendees, hopefully, for Friday night and Shabbat more news in the weeks ahead).

If you have not already done so, remember dues are due. If you have not paid the $36, please visit www.j-gop.com and do so at your soonest convenience. Anyone wishing to be on the board, or who would like to take on the role of outreach and/or programming should reply to this email.
