The Vets' March In D.C.

For those of us who didn't go to the recent veterans march in DC the photos tell the story. My favorite is the last one.

To move forward, we must prepare the way.

Today the Million Vets March is taking place in D.C. and around the country. It will be interesting to see how much news coverage it receives. I’m sure there weren't a million vets, but there were a heck of a lot of them:

The hated Barrycades have come down:

This man’s sign says, “By order of the American people, this site, and all other federally held grounds, are OPEN to the PUBLIC.”

These veterans are at the WWII memorial:

This guy may be a WWII veteran, but he still looks pretty tough. His shirt says, “Home of the free because of the brave.” Pretty sure he is one of those in the latter category:

The younger generation salutes the old:

The vets didn’t just crash the WWII memorial; this big crowd besieged the Lincoln Memorial:

Another crowd went to the White House to express their displeasure:

I like this sign, too: “Less government, more fun.” Maybe that slogan can help with the youth vote:

Some of the Barrycades may never be seen again:

And finally, this symbolic shot:

Obama’s closing of the parks and barricading of monuments was stupid, but so far he doesn’t seem to have paid much of a price. The press will try to keep today’s events secret, but I doubt whether they can succeed. Time will tell, but this seems like the sort of revelatory moment that will reverberate and gain force with time. Ronald Reagan used to say that the United States is a nation that has a government, not the other way around. That is a lesson that all of the elected Rep's and Sen's(in Washington) desperately need to learn.

UPDATE: The vets marched off with some of the Barrycades and dumped them at the White House fence:

FURTHER UPDATE: Here are a couple more. This legless vet is transporting a Barrycade to the White House:

In another world, that photo would be on the evening news. Or maybe this one:

Fw: An Israeli Soldier to American Jews: Wake up!

October 10, 2013, 9:40 am

Hen Mazzig is the Campus Coordinator for StandWithUs' Pacific Northwest chapter in the United States. Hen was in the IDF for almost five years. As a lieutenant in the COGAT unit, he worked as an intermediary between the Israeli Defense Forces (the IDF) and the Palestinian Authority (the PA), the UN, and the many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that work in the West Bank. Hen's unit was responsible for overseeing the construction of medical facilities, schools, environmental projects, roads, water-related infrastructure, and for security coordination with the Palestinian Security Forces, part of the Palestinian Authority.
As a young Israeli who had just completed five years of service in the IDF, I looked forward to my new job educating people in the Pacific Northwest about Israel. I was shocked, however, by the anti-Israel bigotry and hostility I encountered, especially in the greater Seattle area, Oregon, and Berkeley. I had been very liberal, a member of the leftist Zionist party, Meretz, but the anti-Semitism and hatred for Israel that I have seen in the U.S. has changed my outlook personally and politically.

A Special Thank You and appeal for help

Dear Friends,
Thanks to everyone who joined us at the meeting on Wednesday, it was a full house.
Because our guest speaker, Tom Tancredo, had another engagement, I kind of stepped up the pace and failed to point out we had a very special visitor, State Senator George Rivera from Pueblo, Colorado who replaced Angela Giron in the recent recall election.
Hopefully, we will be able to have him back in the near future and I will happily give him the floor and the time he deserves for stepping up to the place and making a difference (I completely failed to let him know we encourage a bit of a free-for-all discussion for anyone at the beginning of the meeting).
My most humble apologies for not asking him to speak directly. I encourage one and all to visit his web site and donate to his campaign as there is no doubt, the opposition will be going after him if they have not already done so
It also came to my attention that our donation button on the web site was not working. This has been corrected to allow for membership to be purchased with a credit card or using a PayPal account.
We want to mount a major outreach effort and need your support to make it happen. Please join for $30 following this link.

Why bother being Jewish?

Some you may agree, some you might not, but explains why when Jews go abandon Judaism, they are more likely to embrace liberalism, servitude and slavery.

Why should American Jews bother to be Jewish? According to a new Pew Research Center survey of the American Jewish community, more and more American Jews have reached the conclusion that there is no reason to be Jewish.

Outside of the Orthodox Jewish community, intermarriage rates have reached 71 percent. Thirty-two percent of Jews born since 1980 and 22% of Jews overall do not describe themselves as Jews by religion. They base their Jewish identity on ancestry, ethnicity or culture.

Beware of Amendment 66

Beware of Amendment 66
by Douglas Bruce

Route 66 is a famous highway; Amendment 66 is a fiscal dead end, taking over a billion dollars yearly in new state taxes. Here are three strikes against #66 almost no one knows.

The first is their bogus ballot title. TABOR (the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights) requires a tax increase ballot title begin, “SHALL STATE TAXES BE INCREASED ($X) ANNUALLY...?” When the state title board first met, the fiscal estimate was just under $1.5 BILLION yearly. A cost 50% above their failed 2011 tax hike would be fatal, so the teachers' union sought a rehearing. The state agreed to lower the tax estimate one-third, to just below $1 BILLION. It declared that reduction corrected an innocent ($500 million) mistake. Would a private analyst making such a “mistake” keep his job? No. Should those who deceive voters get huge pay raises? No. Are they morally fit to teach your children? No. Government is run by liars who will say anything to get our money.

The second scam is the ballot title omission. State law requires ballot titles list major features fairly. Tax payers love TABOR; tax spenders despise it. So state employees hid the fact that #66 repeals TABOR's constitutional guarantee of a uniform income tax (equal protection, the same for everyone). Today's rate is 4.63 percent of federal taxable income. #66 establishes two tax rates. The tax pushers want a five percent rate for those who earn up to $75,000 taxable income (an 8% hike), but then use Obama's class warfare playbook to demonize “the rich” (those making over $75,000). Such “evil people” (like employers) will pay 5.9% on income above $75,000, a 27.4% increase.

The third trick is their proposal. They amend the constitution to repeal TABOR's flat rate income tax, but everything else is ordinary law. Any statute can be changed by our legislature any time, even a voter-approved one. If gullible voters pass #66, politicians can apply the 5.9% rate to income over $50,000, then $25,000, $10,000, and eventually all income over $1. That means no voter approval for hundreds of millions in new taxes. They planned for this because their ballot title says the tax after the first year can raise “whatever is collected,” ignoring the legally-required “annual” (year by year) limit.

The claim this tax is “for the children” is the biggest lie of all. No child gets one dollar. It all goes for government's near-monopoly on juvenile indoctrination. Nearly all the money will go for pay raises, either directly or by propping up their bankrupt PERA pension plan. The state treasurer, who sits on the retirement board, has written that all these billions can prop up the $25 billion deficit in profligate pension plans paying all of today's government workers (not just teachers) nearly full salaries for life, for not working.

A majority of government school employees are not teachers. They are administrators and other bureaucrats. How is giving a 20% pay raise to an assistant principal, union representative, or guidance counselor “for the children?”

Since 1971, per-student school spending has soared 446% AFTER inflation. Are schools getting better? No. Liberals told us passing Amendment 23 in 2000 would solve their “funding problem.” They lied. Referendum C in 2005? Another lie. This year's state marijuana tax? Ditto.

Total education spending is over $10,000 per student. For 25 students per classroom, that exceeds $250,000. If a teacher gets $50,000 in salary and benefits (for working nine months per year), where does the other $200,000 (80%) go? Sure, we need buildings, utilities, books, and some administration, but 80% for overhead is obscene. The ills of our socialized babysitting factories will not be solved by writing a check. Money cannot fix discipline problems, fire incompetent teachers, or improve academic performance.

Businesses won't invest in a state constantly piling on more taxes. Say good-bye to good jobs. That's why Colorado's economic recovery is slower than states that have cut taxes.

The only valid reforms are parental choice and school competition. Freedom always works; centralized tyranny always fails. Vote “NO” on Amendment 66, then distribute fliers at store exits and email and phone everyone you know. The teachers' union will spend millions to get their billion dollars a year; $5 million would reap a 200-to-1 annual return on their “investment” in our enslavement. You must resist. Do it for the children.

October 16th J-GOP Meeting - Speaker: Tom Tancredo

Dear Friends,

There is an important election THIS year. Please don't let the $1 billion tax increase of Amendment 66 add insult to the injury of the more than 19,000 families who lost their homes in the recent rains here in Colorado. In addition to not solving the education problems we face as a state and as a nation, they offer no education reform and destroy the Taxpayer Bill of Rights in the process.

This month's speaker is none other than Gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo. He is the best known contender in this race and he is a long time friend of the J-GOP.
Please don't forget your checkbook.

Join us on October 16th to hear why Tom Tancredo believes he is the best Republican to challenge Democrat Governor John "Backwards Thinking" Hickenlooper.

Best illustration I've seen for "low information voters"

(From an internet email, source not known or validated)
I was in my neighborhood restaurant this morning and was seated behind a group of jubilant individuals celebrating the coming implementation of the health care bill. I could not finish my breakfast. This is what ensued:
They were a diverse group of several races and both sexes. I heard a young man exclaim, "Isn't Obama like Jesus Christ? I mean, after all, he is healing the sick."

A young woman... enthusiastically proclaimed, "Yeah, and he does it for free. I cannot believe anyone would think that a free market wouldn't work for health care."

Another said, "The stupid Republicans want us all to starve to death so they can inherit all of the power. Obama should be made a Saint for what he did for those of us less fortunate."

At this, I had more than enough. I arose from my seat, mustering all the restraint I could find, and approached their table. "Please excuse me; may I impose upon you for one moment?"

They smiled and welcomed me to the conversation. I stood at the end of their table, smiled as best I could and began an experiment.
"I would like to give one of you my house. It will cost you no money and I will pay all of the expenses and taxes for as long as you live there. Anyone interested?"

They looked at each other in astonishment. "Why would you do something like that?" asked a young man, "There isn't anything for free in this world."
They began to laugh at me, as they did not realize this man had just made my point.

"I am serious, I will give you my house for free, no money whatsoever. Anyone interested?"

In unison, a resounding "Yeah" fills the room.
"Since there are too many of you, I will have to make a choice as to who receives this money-free bargain."

I noticed an elderly couple was paying attention to the spectacle unfolding before their eyes, the old man shaking his head in apparent disgust.

"I tell you what; I will give it to the one of you most willing to obey my rules."

Again, they looked at one another, an expression of bewilderment on their faces.

The perky young woman asked, "What are the rules?"

I smiled and said, "I don't know. I have not yet defined them. However, it is a free home that I offer you."

They giggled amongst themselves, the youngest of which said, "What an old coot. He must be crazy to give away his home. Go take your meds, old man."

I smiled and leaned into the table a bit further. "I am serious, this is a legitimate offer."

They gaped at me for a moment.
"I'll take it you old fool. Where are the keys?" boasted the youngest among them.

"Then I presume you accept ALL of my terms then?" I asked.

The elderly couple seemed amused and entertained as they watched from the privacy of their table. "Oh yeah! Where do I sign up?"

I took a napkin and wrote, "I give this man my home, without the burden of financial obligation, so long as he accepts and abides by the terms that I shall set forth upon consummation of this transaction."
I signed it and handed it to the young man who eagerly scratched out his signature.

"Where are the keys to my new house?" he asked in a mocking tone of voice.

All eyes were upon us as I stepped back from the table, pulling the keys from pocket and dangling them before the excited new homeowner.
"Now that we have entered into this binding contract, witnessed by all of your friends, I have decided upon the conditions you are obligated to adhere to from this point forward. You may only live in the house for one hour a day. You will not use anything inside of the home. You will obey me without question or resistance. I expect complete loyalty and admiration for this gift I bestow upon you. You will accept my commands and wishes with enthusiasm, no matter the nature. Your morals and principles shall be as mine. You will vote as I do, think as I do and do it with blind faith. These are my terms. Here are your keys."
I reached the keys forward and the young man looked at me dumbfounded.
"Are you out of your mind? Who would ever agree to those ridiculous terms?" the young man appeared irritated.

"You did when you signed this contract before reading it, understanding it and with the full knowledge that I would provide my conditions only after you committed to the agreement."

The elderly man chuckled as his wife tried to restrain him. I was looking at a now silenced and bewildered group of people.

"You can shove that stupid deal up your a** old man. I want no part of it!" exclaimed the now infuriated young man.

'You have committed to the contract, as witnessed by all of your friends. You cannot get out of the deal unless I agree to it. I do not intend to let you free now that I have you ensnared. I am the power you agreed to. I am the one you blindly and without thought chose to enslave yourself to. In short, I am your Master."

At this, the table of celebrating individuals became a unified group against the unfairness of the deal.

After a few moments of unrepeatable comments and slurs, I revealed my true intent.

"What I did to you is what this administration and congress did to you with the health care legislation. I easily suckered you in and then revealed the real cost of the bargain. Your folly was in the belief that you can have something you did not earn, and for that which you did not earn, you willingly allowed someone else to think for you. Your failure to research, study and inform yourself permitted reason to escape you. You have entered into a trap from which you cannot flee. Your only chance of freedom is if your new Master gives it to you. A freedom that is given can also be taken away. Therefore, it is not freedom at all."

With that, I tore up the napkin and placed it before the astonished young man. "This is the nature of your new health care legislation."
I turned away to leave these few in thought and contemplation -- and was surprised by applause.

The elderly gentleman, who was clearly entertained, shook my hand enthusiastically and said, "Thank you, Sir. These kids don't understand Liberty ."

He refused to allow me to pay my bill as he said, "You earned this one. It is an honor to pick up the tab."

I shook his hand in thanks, leaving the restaurant somewhat humbled and sensing a glimmer of hope for my beloved country.
